When I saw Altura was offering their scallion Mac nut crusted Alaskan White King Salmon with a ginger coconut broth, I came here in less than a week for our first dinner in Alaska. It was so good, I wish I got my own order instead of just a bite since I couldn't share the Kodiak Scallops with my shellfish intolerant hubby. The scallops were unfortunately way too salty so wasn't sure if it was salted twice. The cambozola and roasted garlic starter and newly added peach and burrata salad was perfectly balanced in flavors that made me liked accompaniments like parsley purée and mint pesto that I otherwise wouldn't. Even though it was still sunny and warm upon leaving at 9pm, someone needed a nap after eating all that to be awake for the 11:41pm sunset at Point Woronzof and that midnight sun.

Wonderful fine dining experience. This is a great place for a birthday or anniversary. The shrimp bisque is to die for. My husband ordered the ribeye and it was perfect. I had the scallops and they were delicious. We tried the bone marrow since we had never had it before and it wasn't our favorite but it wouldn't deter us from returning. We love the extensive wine collection and delicious desserts! I would recommend making a reservation for dinner hours. On a side note, this seems like a wonderful place for an engagement party, formal work get together, or retirement dinner. Additionally, it looks like they have excellent take out specials for lunch. Highly recommend!

Thank you so much for seating us at 8:55 when you guys close at 9pm first of all. I hate being that guy, but I couldn't fit in another time sadly. Now this dining experience was an EASY 11 out of 10. The first thing being our waiter entertaining us throughout the entire dinner & giving us some fantastic recommendations not just on the menu but all over Anchorage. He is what holds a good business together. We talked about everything from other food spots to video games, it kills me that I didn't get his name but he made the experience so much more enjoyable. Now on to the food, the bread and butter came out HOT so it was already a great start. Decided to go with the Elk Tartare because why not, this was a little different than I was expecting but in a good way. The Pork Belly was what stole the show as far as appetizers go, soooooo tender and the sauce it comes with had me in heaven. The Ribeye was EASILY one of the best I've ever had in my life. I remember cutting into it and seeing it nearly MELT like it was a hot knife through butter. It was THAT tender, I almost cried with every bite. The Alaskan King Crab with that CAJUN flavoring was perfect with the steak. Can't visit Alaska without the King Crab Leg right? HUGE piece of Crab so we were almost full, but then you know we had to see what the caviar and SEASONAL gnocchi was talking about. Every bite almost sent me into a coma . Ended the night with the Cheesecake with brownie fudge crust and the Quatro Leches both stupendous. This was easily my favorite meal in Alaska and the best dining experience I've had in a long time!!! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!

Altura is one of the best, if not the best, restaurants in Anchorage - do not be persuaded otherwise by its location in a strip mall in midtown rather than downtown. Every time I dine here, the waitstaff are lovely, the vibe is cozy, and the food is incredible. This visit, we had the daily soup to start, which was creamy and tasty. For an appetizer, there was a hamachi special, which had the most delightful yuzu sauce. For a main, I had the Kodiak scallops, which were cooked to perfection and perfectly paired with asparagus and risotto. I do not know if I've ever had better scallops elsewhere. I love coming to Altura and I'd recommend it to anyone in Anchorage who wants a delicious meal of seafood or otherwise!

Always a five star experience. Tonight I had the short rib special with Japanese BBQ Sauce glaze and the compressed pickled cucumber salad. An incredible dish! My fiancé always chooses the filet, and our dinner companion had the rib eye. We were all proud members of the clean plate club. Not pictured, the great desserts and appetizers. Pick any one of them and you'll be happy. Top that off with an incredible wine selection and the best wait staff on the planet (Eliza and Steve--we love you guys!!!), and there's a reason that we check in at Altura more than any other place in town.

First. The bread has only a subtle tiny sign of being crusty. Soft in all the right places. A great start! And it only got better and better. I'm a big fan of mushrooms and gnocchi, but I haven't had them together. Usually, gnocchi is in a heavy and tasty cream sauce resulting in a lack of attention to the gnocchi and, what I realize now, a nod to the sauce. The gnocchi at Altura was slightly connected to a delightful mushroom crème sauce, that, while incredibly tasty, did not detract from the flavorful and firm pasta. The entrees were amazing. I wasnt sure about cold pesto orso that accompanied the scallops, but I shouldn't have feared. It was full of flavor and interesting. Paired perfect with the scallops without overpowering their flavor. Wine was tasty. Service, spectacular. I realize I probably give out five stars too freely. Altura should be six or seven stars on my current scale. Final note: It's amazing how I've never really comprehended location of a restaurant as measurable entity. If I had one complaint (and let's be clear here, I DO NOT), it would be the door to the outside doesn't have blinds (maybe they can't?) and throughout dinner there were a few cars that pulled into a space and sort of killed the ambiance for a few moments.

Went again for lunch and yes again great quality and service. They are only open for takeout during lunch but that's ok. I did buy the cheese burger again. Wow i still just as good even eating it in the car in the parking lot of the movie theater. place is clean and well kept as always. Keep up the good work.
